How Does Latisse® Work
Latisse® is a prescription offered to those that suffer from hypotrichosis (inadequate or not enough lashes) and is a topical solution that is applied daily to the base of the upper lashes; it is not applied to the lowed eyelid at all.
Latisse® is prescribed by our for take-home use. It takes approximately 16 weeks to reach maximum fullness and lash length, however, clinical studies show that you will notice results as early as four weeks into the treatment. Typical Latisse® users experience the following:
- 4 weeks – may start to notice longer lashes
- 8 weeks – may start to notice more fullness and darkness in your lashes
- 12 weeks – dramatic changes in your lashes
- 16 weeks – longer, fuller, darker lashes
If you stop using Latisse® in the middle of your 16-week treatment period, the lash growth and changes you’ve experienced may reverse themselves. If you complete the 16-weeks of treatments, then you can discuss with your provider how and when to stop using Latisse® and maintain your gorgeously grown-out lashes.
Possible Latisse® Side Effects
As with any cosmetic surgery treatment, there are some risks or side effects that can occur. The use of Latisse® may rarely cause the following:
- Itching or redness around the eye
- Dry eyes
- Itching eyelids
- The skin around the eyelid may darken, but this reverses itself
- Increased brown pigment in the colored portion of your eye
