One of the main goals of cosmetic surgery in general and breast enlargement in particular is to help women feel more confident about themselves and their appearance. For most women, achieving a natural look is important.

Dr. Sweeney will help you receive the look you desire with your breast enlargement procedure. Here are some things to consider before your consultation.

A New Tool

In addition to more traditional methods of deciding on the size and shape of your implant, Dr. Sweeney is proud to be the first in Florida to offer Vectra BreastSculptor™ 3-D breast imaging. Using this revolutionary digital imaging system, Dr. Sweeney is able to take a 3-D image of your torso and transform it to give you a much better idea of what you will look like following breast enlargement.

Size

Obviously, size is the most important variable in making your breast implants look natural. The first key is proportion. Breasts that are proportionately large for your frame will tend to look unnatural. Even women with naturally disproportionate breasts commonly receive the charge of fake breasts.

It’s also important to make sure that you consider the amount of breast tissue you are starting with. The larger the implant in comparison to your natural breast tissue, the more the implant is going to dominate the shape of your breasts, potentially making them seem too round to be natural.

Shape

Shape intersects with size. If a larger implant is to be used for a woman with less natural breast tissue, a shaped implant can help her achieve a natural appearance. Also, implants come in different profiles — low, medium, or high — that can help a woman with a smaller chest achieve the projection she wants without having the implant spilling unnaturally and uncomfortably off the side of the chest.

Placement

Breast implants are normally placed either directly below the breast tissue (subglandular placement) or partly under the pectoral muscle (submuscular). Although submuscular placement tends to give a more natural appearance, it does come with a cost.

Fill

Every woman must decide whether she is interested in saline implants or silicone gel implants. Given the choice, over 90% of women worldwide choose silicone implants because they best mimic the look and feel of natural breast tissue. In addition, silicone gel implants come pre-filled at the optimum level, reducing the chance they will show rippling following surgery.

Incision

There are four different incision options available: inframammary (at the breast fold), periareolar (under the areola), transaxillary (in the armpit), and transumbilical (TUBA, indicating an incision in the belly button). Silicone implants can only be placed with inframammary and periareolar incisions.

You have to look at the options and decide which site best fits your normal mode of dress (or undress) and where you are comfortable having a scar. Although every measure is taken postoperatively to minimize scarring, there will be some trace of the operation, and the level of scarring depends on your body.

With all of these options and with your input Dr. Sweeney can give a dramatic result that is nonetheless natural in appearance. To learn more about the results you can achieve, please e-mail the Bougainvillea Clinique today to set up your consultation.
