Body contouring describes a variety of cosmetic procedures that are done to remove fat deposits and excess skin in order to produce a more toned and youthful appearance. It includes such well-known surgical procedures as abdominoplasties or tummy tucks, and it also includes non-surgical procedures like CoolSculpting®. Body contouring in Orlando can be done on practically any part of the body, and many of the procedures can be combined.
The various body contouring procedures in Orlando are not weight loss procedures. They are for patients who are at or near their optimal weight. Many people will undergo body contouring after losing a lot of weight and finding themselves left with a lot of sagging skin and fat deposits.
What is Vectra 3D Imaging?
Vectra 3D Imaging is a technology used to help a patient see what they could look like after undergoing a plastic surgery procedure. In breast augmentation, for example, Vectra 3D Imaging will enable the patient to see how different sizes and types of implants could affect their appearance.
The device contains six cameras that will take simultaneous pictures of the patient from different angles. It will combine those pictures to form a 3D image of the patient’s body. The doctor will use Vectra 3D Imaging to advise the patient during their consultation.
Vectra 3D Imaging also has a portal called View My Consult that allows the patient to show the pictures taken during their consultation to their family and friends.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a family of cosmetic procedures done to remove fat. It always involves using a thin tube called a cannula to break up the targeted fat. The cannula is usually attached to a suction device that will vacuum out the fat. In a common and popular variant called tumescent liposuction, the doctor will inject a saline solution that will make the fat cells easier to remove by causing them to swell up. The solution also reduces bleeding and bruising by constricting blood vessels, and it typically includes an anesthetic like lidocaine to keep the patient comfortable.
There are currently many types of liposuction available. Bougainvillea Clinique offers the following options:
- body-jet® Liposuction
- Hi Def Liposculpture
- Hydrasolve Gentle Liposuction
- Laser-assisted Liposuction
- Tickle Lipo
- Vaser liposuction
After undergoing liposuction, the patient will often have to wear a compression garment to reduce swelling and ensure that the skin will conform to the body’s new shape. The compression garment will also help the patient heal more quickly.
Who is a Good Candidate for Liposuction?
The ideal candidate will be somebody in good overall health with realistic expectations. Since liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure, the candidate should also be at their ideal weight or within 25 pounds of their healthiest weight. Very heavy patients are not good candidates. Smokers are also not good candidates, as smoking increases the risks of complications. A patient who smokes should thus stop smoking several weeks before undergoing liposuction.
What is body-jet® Liposuction?
body-jet® liposuction is also known as water-assisted liposuction (WAL). The surgeon will use a special cannula that emits a pulsating spray of water and local anesthetic onto the fat cells in order to dislodge them so they can be suctioned out. body-jet® is gentler than many other types of liposuction, so it is more comfortable for the patient. It is also less likely to cause bruising or other injuries to any neighboring tissues. body-jet® causes less swelling, which makes it easier for the doctor to accurately assess the procedure’s results. In addition, the fat cells aren’t damaged so they can be readily used in any fat transfers.
What is HydraSolve Liposuction?
HydraSolve liposuction is a particularly gentle form of liposuction that resembles body-jet® liposuction. While body-jet® uses a liquid at room temperature, however, Hydrasolve uses a heated saline solution that liquifies the fat cells and makes it easier for the suction to vacuum them out.
Hydrasolve is gentle enough to not damage that fat cells, so they can be used in any procedures involving fat transfers. It requires only a small opening for the cannula, so the patient enjoys a quicker recovery time with minimal bruising or discomfort.
What is Tickle Lipo?
With Tickle Lipo, the surgeon uses a cannula that vibrates at 10 Hz, which is fast enough to break up fat but doesn’t generate an uncomfortable amount of heat. The cannula can simultaneously suction out the fat. The vibrations are also gentle enough to not damage the fat cells, so they can be used in any fat transfers. The patient will typically need only a local anesthetic while undergoing Tickle Lipo. Many do indeed experience a tickling sensation during treatment causing them to laugh or giggle.
As the patient does not receive general anesthesia, they may leave right after the procedure. Similarly, they may resume most of their normal activities just a few days later. The patient will have to wear a compression garment for one to four weeks.
What is VASER Liposuction?
The acronym VASER stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy of Resonance. VASER liposuction is based on the technology used in Smartlipo, a type of laser liposuction that melts fat cells. By contrast, VASER uses ultrasonic energy to generate the heat that melts the fat cells. The probe also has a suction that vacuums the melted cells. VASER requires less heat to be effective than Smartlipo does. It is thus both safer and more comfortable for the patient.
The surgeon will make an opening and insert the cannula that will emit ultrasonic energy to melt the fat cells. The ultrasound will not harm neighboring tissues. The suction is also gentle and won’t disrupt any tissues. VASER liposuction can also reduce cellulite, a condition in which fat deposits push through the skin’s connective tissues. Consequently, the skin looks lumpy and dimpled. In addition to melting fat cells, VASER liposuction stimulates the production of collagen and thus tightens skin.
VASER High Definition is a variation in which the surgeon strategically removes the fat to emphasize the patient’s muscle definition. It works best for patients who are already fit but are still unable to achieve the desired ultra-toned look. The best candidates for VASER High Definition will also have good skin elasticity.
What is Fat Grafting?
Fat grafting, also known as fat transfer, describes any surgical procedure in which the surgeon moves fat from one part of the body to another part of the body. The surgeon will use one of the gentler forms of liposuction like Tickle Lipo or body-jet® to remove the fat from an area like the abdomen that has too much fat.
The surgeon will then use a technology called PureGraft to purify the fat by filtering out contaminants like blood. They will then inject it into a treatment site that has too little fat, such as a breast. Fat grafting can also be used to fill in scars or repair breast tissue that has been damaged by radiation therapy.
What is Lipostructure?
Lipostructure is a cosmetic procedure done on the face. The surgeon will perform liposuction on another part of the body to harvest fat cells. After purifying the fat cells, they will inject them in places on the patient’s face such the cheeks, chin, lips, or temples. The fat can either fill in wrinkles or add volume to places that have either started to sag or become hollowed out. Lipostructure can thus give the patient’s face a more youthful look.
What is an Abdominoplasty?
nAbdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, is a common and popular surgical procedure in which the doctor removes excess fat and skin and tighten the abdominal muscles to give the patient a flatter stomach.
The doctor will use a potent local anesthetic called Exparel® that can remain effective for as long as four days. Not only does that keep the patient comfortable during the procedure, but it also reduces their need for pain medication during their recovery.
They will perform liposuction to remove the fat deposits and trim away the excess skin. They will also tighten the abdominal muscles. The surgeon will use a medical adhesive to bond the tissues together. Medical adhesive has a number of advantages: it virtually eliminates the need for drains, it promotes healing, and it reduces scars.
A tummy tuck can be done on its own or along with other procedures. An abdominoplasty combined with breast surgery is often described as a “mommy makeover.”
What Does a Body and Thigh Lift Involve?
A body and thigh lift is a surgical procedure done to remove excess fat, skin, and other tissues from the thighs and buttocks. It is similar to a tummy tuck but involves different parts of the body. As with the tummy tuck, the surgeon will use liposuction to remove fat deposits, and they will excise excess skin and other tissues. They will then pull the remaining skin to create a tighter and more toned appearance.
What Does Breast Surgery Involve?
Breast surgery includes breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, and breast reconstruction. The last is a procedure in which the doctor rebuilds the patient’s breast after they have had the original removed. Depending on the patient’s health and desires, breast reconstruction can be done immediately after the mastectomy or a few months or years later. In a breast lift or mastopexy, the surgeon corrects sagging breasts by removing excess skin.
A patient undergoing breast surgery will often be faced with many choices. This is especially true of breast augmentation. The surgeon will thus use the Vectra 3D Imaging system to show the patient the probable results of a given technique and help them choose the one that would produce the best results.
A patient undergoing a breast augmentation will have to consider the type of implant they want and the size of the implant. There are several different methods for placing the implant, and there are several different places for the openings. The patient may also decide to undergo fat grafting instead of getting implants, or they may decide to combine fat grafting with an implant in a procedure called composite breast augmentation. Fat grafting can also be used to correct problems like breast asymmetry.
Breast implants can be made from silicone or saline, and they can be round or tear-shaped. The latter type is designed to look more anatomical and can produce a more natural-looking contour.
Gummy bear implants are a relatively new type of silicone implant also known as highly cohesive gel implants. They have the advantages of holding their shape better than other implants, and they are less likely to leak. Breasts augmented with gummy bear implants are soft to the touch – like natural breasts.
What is CoolSculpting®?
CoolSculpting®, also known as cryolipolysis, is a non-surgical form of body contouring that takes advantage of the fact that fat has a higher freezing point than do other tissues. It is thus possible to freeze fat cells without harming any neighboring tissues. CoolSculpting® can be done on different parts of the body including the abdomen, back, arms, and even chin.
CoolSculpting® is completely non-invasive. It, therefore, does not involve incisions or stitches, and the patient won’t need any anesthesia. The doctor will place a protective gel pad on the treatment area to keep the patient’s skin from getting uncomfortably cold. The CoolSculpting® machine itself has a safeguard so that it will automatically shut off if it detects that the treatment site is becoming too cold. The doctor will then place the applicator on the treatment area, and it will suction the skin. The applicator will emit an intense cold that will kill the patient’s fat cells. The treatment takes about 35 minutes.
The patient may immediately resume their usual activities after treatment. Their body will gradually expel the frozen fat cells, and many patients see the most results six to twelve weeks after treatment. Some patients may need several treatments to get the desired results.
CoolSculpting®’s effects are permanent, as the fat cells do not return.
