Case Details
Very frequently patients have a nasal hump they want reduced, but in addition their chin is underdeveloped. This not only makes the nose look bigger but also makes the profile very convex or rounded rather than straight as it should be. For the best results a rhinoplasty is then combined with a chin enlargement procedure. If the enlargement required is not too large then a chin implant may be used. In the case shown, the chin really needed to be brought forward a significant amount, and the procedure was done by actually cutting the chin bone and moving it forward. This procedure is called an osteotomy. The chin is secured in the desired position with small titanium plates and screws.
